Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. The platform is free while in open beta; if that ever changes it will be announced on this site first and existing zones will not be deleted.

Do I have to move my nameservers?

Yes. After adding the zone in the console, set your registrar's NS records to the nameservers the platform assigns. Once that propagates, we answer authoritatively.

Does it support DDNS?

Yes — create an API token and one curl call upserts a record. The DDNS guide has copy-paste scripts for Linux cron and Windows Task Scheduler.

Which record types are supported?

A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, CAA and SRV.

Can I use my own nameserver hostnames?

Yes. Custom NS (vanity nameservers) is a built-in advanced feature: add hostnames in the console; glue records for in-zone names are created automatically.

Can I issue wildcard certificates?

Yes. Use the ACME DNS-01 endpoint with acme.sh or certbot, plus a dedicated minimal-scope token.

Is my data safe?

The admin console has one-click backups (database, configuration and every zone's records, packed as a zip). Passwords and API tokens are stored only as hashes.

Can I host subdomains (second-level names)?

Yes. Any subdomain can be hosted as its own zone (e.g. dev.example.com): add it here, then delegate with NS records from the parent DNS — the parent zone stays untouched.

Do you support MCP?

Yes — a built-in MCP server (/mcp, Streamable HTTP). Claude Desktop / Claude Code connect with one snippet; the tools mirror the REST API one to one. See the docs page for the config.
